Semester academic and program tuition for 2010/2011: $17,500
Expenses
Your tuition with The Traveling School includes your room and board, additional transportation costs while abroad, all domestic flights while overseas, any museum or national park fees, most recreational activities (when included in the itinerary, such as the Galapagos Islands), and all instruction.
Your book and computer fee of $400 covers all book costs, and Internet and computer fees overseas for research and school purposes.
Travel to and from the international destination is not included in the program tuition.
Additional Costs
Though most expenses are included in your tuition, you need to budget separately for personal spending money, required immunizations, excess luggage tariffs, and some personal activity fees (such as movies, personal Internet access, phone calls home), which are not included in your tuition. Students pay for any meals they choose to eat apart from the group. Students are responsible for any recreational activities they choose to do on trips that are not included in the group itinerary.
Passports and Visas
Students are responsible for getting their own passports. If a visa is required, The Traveling School will send you the necessary information to obtain one approximately one month before your departure. Please be aware that you need to apply for this visa before departure.
Immunizations
Immunizations and specific medications are not provided by The Traveling School. We travel with a sophisticated First-Aid kit, and all instructors are certified Wilderness First Responders. Before the semester, please contact the Center of Disease Control for up-to-date recommendations for specific regions. We recommend you work with your family doctor or a specialized Travel Clinic to help with your decisions regarding immunizations.
Insurance
All Traveling School students must be covered by medical and travel insurance while overseas. Many family health insurance plans in the United States extend to out-of-country situations, so you may already be covered. If you need an additional policy, we can refer you to an independent insurance broker with experience providing coverage for overseas students.
