The Principal's Welcome

As semesters wax and wane with The Traveling School, the enthusiasm and love our students, parents and faculty have for The Traveling School continues to grow.  This semester inspires people to do more, become more, and push themselves beyond their traditional boundaries.

A semester with The Traveling School is for uncommon people with a drive to make a difference in the world.  It isn’t easy for students to choose to leave their home high schools, their friends, and their families and come explore the world with us for 15 weeks.  The students who make this decision know that it will change their entire world. Life is simply better after a semester with The Traveling School.

Imagine listening to singing under the stars in a San Village in the Kalahari Desert.

Now imagine this experience is richer because classes have spent the last few weeks reading about the plight of the nomadic Bushman tribes and discussing the historic, political, and social aspects of this community.

Or, imagine walking through the steamy Amazon rainforest where light only filters in thick beams because of the dense top stories of trees and growth.

Now imagine this experience richer because you’ve learned in depth about rainforest ecology, primary and secondary forests, oil exploration and the Huarani tribe in the Amazon. The Traveling School days are full and powerful. and try to record the day’s events in overflowing journals.

principal's welcome

They start with an early morning workout just as dawn is fading, and are filled with classes, activities, laughter, and conversation.  They end after dark as students finish their studies by headlamp.

At the end of the semester, the students have found a community of friends who will share this experience and friendship with them forever. They have formed bonds with each other, and with local communities, that motivate them to inspire change. They return home with an even bigger selection of opportunities – they have fallen in love with learning, yearn to give back to the communities where they traveled, and want to make a significant difference in the world.

Please join us.

Sincerely,
