Compensation and Benefits

Compensation for instructors is set on a contractual basis, and benefits--such as pay, sick days, and health insurance reimbursement--are determined by position, amount worked in a given year, and seniority. All teachers are on contract from approximately August 28 – December 17, and January 28 – May 17. Full-time teachers are on contract from August 15 – June 1.

Room and Board: The Traveling School provides for room and board expenses during the semester, except for staff days off. Teachers pay for meals they choose to eat apart from the group (i.e. your night off).

Recreational Activities: The Traveling School provides recreational activities included in the itinerary, when possible. Teachers are responsible for any recreational activities they choose to do on trips that are not included in the group itinerary.

Transportation: The Traveling School provides for most transportation during the semester. The Traveling School provides an international plane ticket to/from the gateway city in the United States, provided all obligations of the contract have been met and maintained.

Insurance: Teachers are required to have their own health and travel insurance. Immunizations and medications are not provided by The Traveling School. Teachers must have their own up-to-date passports. Outdoor gear is available with the pro-purchase program for teachers needing specialized equipment for the trips.
